Is your Meta tracking ready to launch?

If Meta can't see your sales, it can't find you more buyers. Answer a few questions and see what to fix first. It takes about a minute.

What is this campaign for?
Is the Meta Pixel installed on your website? A small piece of code that tells Meta when someone visits or buys.
Is the Meta SDK (or your tracking partner) set up in your app? This is how Meta learns that someone installed and opened your app.
Is the Conversions API set up too? It sends the same events from your server, so you still count sales when a browser blocks the Pixel.
Do the Pixel and the Conversions API send the same event ID? Without a shared ID, Meta counts one sale twice.
Does the right event fire when someone converts? Purchase for sales, Lead for leads, an install or in-app event for apps.
Is your domain verified in Meta Business Manager? It proves the website is yours and lets you choose which events matter most.
Have you made a test conversion and seen it in Events Manager? The only way to know for sure that it works.
Do new leads reach you the same day, in your CRM or inbox? Leads that sit in Meta for a week go cold fast.
Have you sent a test lead through the form? Meta has a free Lead Ads Testing Tool for this.

This is a self-check. Nothing is sent anywhere and we don't scan your site.

    Why it matters

    Tracking comes first

Meta learns who to show your ad to by watching who buys. When tracking is broken, it is guessing. You can have a great ad and a fair budget and still get poor results, because Meta never finds out what worked.

It is also the easiest problem to miss. The ads still run and the clicks still come, so nothing looks wrong until a week of budget is gone. Check it before you launch, not after.

    Questions

    Tracking FAQ

Do I need the Conversions API if I already have the Pixel?

For sales and website leads, yes, it is worth it. Ad blockers, browser privacy settings and iPhone tracking limits stop the Pixel from seeing some conversions. The Conversions API sends the same events from your server, so Meta still hears about them. Most store platforms, like Shopify, can switch it on without any code.

    What is event deduplication?

When the Pixel and the Conversions API both report the same purchase, Meta needs a way to know it is one sale, not two. You do that by sending the same event ID from both. If you skip it, your results look better than they are and Meta learns from wrong numbers.

How do I check that my Pixel is working?

Open Events Manager, pick your dataset and go to Test events. Enter your website address, then click around and complete a test purchase or form. Each event should appear within a few seconds. If the one you want to optimise for never shows up, Meta cannot see it either.

Do Meta lead forms need a Pixel?

No. When people fill in a form inside Facebook or Instagram, Meta records the lead itself. What matters then is getting the leads out quickly, by connecting the form to your CRM or email, and checking the form with a test lead before you spend.

    Before you launch

This is 1 of the 8 checks Spendifier runs.

Good tracking won't save a weak offer, the wrong audience or a landing page that doesn't convert. Spendifier checks all eight and gives your campaign a score out of 100 before you spend.
